The individuals arrested in connection with Sunday’s shooting incident in Lassila, Helsinki, are young adults, according to Marko Forss, the investigation leader and crime inspector at the Helsinki Police Department. Among those arrested are both men and women. One person sustained minor injuries during the shooting, which occurred last Sunday evening in North Haaga, when shots were fired at an apartment window from outside. The police suspect the shooter of attempted murder.

On Monday afternoon, a police operation in central Helsinki led to the detainment of three people following a vehicle stop on Kasarmikatu as part of the investigation into the shooting. Authorities confirmed that the suspected shooter has been apprehended.

When asked if the police have identified the alleged shooter, Forss indicated, “We do have some understanding of who it is, but we cannot disclose more at this stage.”

Regarding potential gang involvement, Forss stated that authorities are investigating any connections this case may have with organized crime or street gang activity in Finland, saying, “This is also under investigation.”

There are still individuals connected to the case that the police have yet to interview. Additionally, police detained two more people in Mäkkylä, Espoo, on Sunday evening in relation to the incident, but investigations concerning them are still ongoing.
