The situation is evolving. Tore Strømøy has been a significant figure for NRK, garnering widespread public appeal. Now, it was deemed appropriate to end the collaboration, stated Eivind Undrum Jacobsen, the regional editor at NRK Midt.

Since 2013, Strømøy held a contractor agreement with NRK, which was mutually agreed to terminate today. “We thank Tore Strømøy for his contributions over many years at NRK. He has left a lasting impact with numerous audience successes over more than 30 years. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” said Marius Lillelien, district director at NRK.

Efforts to obtain a comment from Strømøy have so far been unsuccessful.

Strømøy began his career at NRK in 1986 as a journalist, previously working at Arbeider-Avisa and Adresseavisen. He departed from NRK in 2013 but maintained a contract for program delivery, which has now ended.

He is especially known for the show “Tore på sporet,” which aired for several seasons from 1996 to 2020, achieving strong viewership but also facing multiple controversies. Additionally, he has worked on several other series, including “Tett på” and “På loffen.”

After becoming self-employed in 2013, Strømøy continued producing programs for NRK. “Gåten Agnes” was released in 2022, while “Bamsegutt” debuted in 2024 but was later removed due to the omission of a sexual assault conviction regarding the main character. NRK faced criticism from the Press Complaints Commission regarding the series and initiated an internal evaluation, revealing deficiencies at various levels. Strømøy has also authored several books and children’s literature.
