Ähtäri City Council demands resignation of two Finns Party members over breach of confidentiality

Friday 23rd August 2024 on 15:48 in Finland

The Ähtäri City Council has demanded that two members from the Finns Party voluntarily resign from their positions. The city provided a partially confidential meeting record on Friday at the request of Yle Pohjanmaa, in which the basis for the resignation request is cited as a breach of confidentiality obligations.

The individuals involved are Juha Nortunen, a member of the city council representing the Finns Party, and Jarkko Salo, vice-chairman of the audit committee, also from the same party. The council’s decision to submit the resignation request was made during its Monday meeting, and the matter was classified as confidential.

Despite multiple attempts, Yle has been unable to reach anyone from Ähtäri City to further comment on the reasons behind these actions.
