The Finnish EU ministerial committee announced on Thursday that Finland will not participate in informal political ministerial meetings taking place in Hungary. Hungary began its term as the EU’s presidency at the end of June. Instead of ministers or political state secretaries, representatives at the meetings will be at the civil service level. According to the government, this approach is a response to Hungary’s actions during its presidency. Hungary has long been resistant to EU support for Ukraine. This decision aligns with the resolutions made during the ministerial committee’s meetings in July. Other Nordic and Baltic countries are following a similar approach.
