Search continues for missing girl in Riihimäki, Finland

A 16-year-old girl who went missing in Riihimäki on Saturday remains unaccounted for. The lead investigator, Chief Inspector Ville Mattila, reported that search operations in the area’s terrain were paused overnight on Wednesday but resumed immediately after.

On Tuesday, search teams covered all locations where tips about the girl had been reported. Mattila indicated that the police have received new information regarding her whereabouts and have identified several key locations for further investigation. Authorities are urging the public to report any observations, no matter how minor, that could assist in locating the girl. Sightings can be reported to emergency services at 112.

The police released a photo of the girl on Monday. She left her home on Tehtaanportinkatu around 5:30 PM on Saturday. Described as slender and standing 164 centimeters tall, she has short blonde hair and wears glasses. At the time of her disappearance, she may have been dressed in black pants and a dark blue hoodie, carrying a red backpack.

According to police, the girl tends to avoid contact with others and has a particular interest in horses and equestrian facilities. It is believed she may seek out such places. Updates on the situation are expected.
