There are likely no injuries reported following an incident that occurred during a shift change, leading to a higher number of people in the area than usual. Fire Commander Helge Lund confirmed that power has been cut in the vicinity and production at the large metal factory has been halted.
“Firefighters are entering the building, and there is a significant amount of smoke,” Lund stated. Local fire services, along with air ambulances and rescue helicopters, have been dispatched to the scene.
One individual received medical attention, but no injuries have been reported. Lund explained that there was a reaction involving a significant container of liquid metal. The risk of explosions arises if water comes into contact with the metal. “I need more information before providing further details. We have control of the situation,” said plant manager Arne Werger-Olsen.
According to reports, between 8 and 16 individuals were present in the vicinity of the factory when the explosion occurred.
