Residents of Hrunamannahreppur express dissatisfaction with high prices at Krambúðin in Flúðum

Residents of Hrunamannahreppur have expressed dissatisfaction with the high prices at the local grocery store, Krambúðin, located in Flúðum. Many have noted that prices in this store are sometimes as much as 50% higher than those found in discount retailers.

Aldís Hafsteinsdóttir, the mayor of Hrunamannahreppur, stated that there have been discussions with the management of Krambúðin regarding these concerns. She emphasized that the community has limited patience for such steep prices. While it is a positive aspect for the town to have a store, the reality is that most locals prefer to shop elsewhere due to cost issues.

In response to the complaints, Kristín Gunnarsdóttir, the manager of Kjör- og Krambúða, announced that a loyalty program will be implemented in the coming weeks. This program aims to provide local residents with better pricing and ensure key products are offered at rates similar to those in Nettó, a popular discount chain. A pilot of this system was previously successful in Búðardalur.

The initiative comes as a direct response to community feedback, with hopes that it will improve the shopping experience for residents.
