Two motorcyclists were severely injured in a collision at a moped meeting in Imatra on Saturday evening, according to the South Karelia police. One of the riders was driving at a significant speed on an unregistered motorcycle unsuitable for road use and collided with another rider, also on an unregistered motorcycle. The two individuals involved were 17 and 18 years old, and neither possessed a valid motorcycle license.

The police are investigating the incident as a serious violation of traffic safety, serious bodily injury, and unauthorized operation of a vehicle. Authorities were aware that a moped gathering was scheduled for Saturday evening in the Imatra area. The event attracted hundreds of motorcycles and dozens of cars.

According to police reports, attendees were operating their vehicles in a manner that typically contravenes traffic regulations.
