Copenhagen’s main library has opened a Taylor Swift book club, bringing fans together to discuss literary works that have influenced the pop star’s songwriting, DR reports.
The club was launched this week by the library. Its founder, Taylor Swift fan and lecturer Karoline Daae, said it aims to bring fans together around some of the more substantial works that have inspired Swift.
Those works include William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby. Daae said Swift had drawn on narratives and characters from literature in her songwriting.
Laura Petersen, one of the club’s 10 members, said she wanted to read more and was looking for a community of Taylor Swift fans. She said the club also offered a chance to explore the singer’s influences.
The number of book clubs at Copenhagen’s main library has grown from four to more than 50. Across the city’s 20 libraries, there are now nearly 200, said Sanne Craft, head of the main library. She said the libraries were seeing strong interest in in-person communities, particularly among young people who want to read together.
