Driver sought after teenage girl struck in Kópavogur, Iceland

The police in the capital region are searching for the driver of a vehicle that struck a teenage girl on Vatnsendavegur at Ögurhvarf in Kópavogi on Wednesday, August 14, around 3 PM. The girl, accompanied by a friend, was crossing the road when the vehicle headed south and hit her. She landed on the vehicle’s hood and then slid off, while the driver continued to flee the scene, according to a police statement.

Despite significant traffic in the area, no one stopped to check on the girl’s condition following the incident. The girl returned home after the accident and informed her parents, who then contacted the police. She was subsequently taken to a doctor, but no further details about her injuries have been released.

The police emphasized the importance of drivers ensuring that no injuries occurred and that no damage was sustained in situations like this. They also stressed the necessity of reporting the incident to the authorities.
