The police in the Greater Reykjavik area are searching for a driver who struck a teenage girl on Vatnsendavegur near Ögurhvarf in Kópavogur on Wednesday, August 14, at approximately 3 PM. The girl was walking with a friend when the vehicle was driven south on the road and collided with her. She landed on the car’s hood and then slid off, but the driver continued without stopping, according to the police statement.

Despite significant traffic in the area, no one stopped to check on the girl’s condition. After the incident, she returned home and informed her parents, who subsequently contacted the police. The girl received medical attention, although no further details about her injuries have been released.

The police emphasized in their statement the importance of drivers ensuring that no one has been injured and to assess any damage after such incidents. They also stressed the necessity of reporting the incident to law enforcement.

Authorities are urging the driver involved to come forward, and they are also asking any witnesses to the incident to reach out by calling 444 1000.
