Reykjavik City-run kindergartens have received bomb threats, which the National Commissioner of Police’s security division assessed as not credible, mbl.is reports. City Registrar Þorsteinn Gunnarsson confirmed the threats to the news site.

Guidance on responding to bomb threats was sent to managers at Reykjavík City and other officials. When mbl.is first reported the guidance on Thursday, the city had not confirmed which institutions had received threats.

The security division believes the threats originated outside Europe, according to the earlier report. Reykjavík City is in regular contact with the division on security matters, and sending guidance to managers is part of its usual procedure, Gunnarsson said.

The city has not confirmed how many kindergartens received threats or whether any special security measures were taken.
