TAKS to get clearer power to reclaim overpaid student grants

TAKS is to receive clearer authority to recover overpaid student grants under a proposed amendment to the Student Support Act, KVF reports.

The bill is open for consultation until 1 December. The authority already exists, but the law is to be made more explicit and direct.

There is uncertainty over whether current legislation gives TAKS sufficient authority to collect the money. The National Audit Office has urged Studni, the student support body, to ensure there is a clear legal basis.
