Sweden will reinstate border checks at its internal borders from November 12 to May 11, 2027, the government said in a press release, according to SVT.

The government cited the deteriorating security situation following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, saying the war has brought hybrid threats and hostile actors within the Schengen area.

The Swedish Police Authority will decide where and how the checks are carried out. France, Germany, Norway and Denmark have also reinstated checks at their internal borders, the government said.
