Tårnby Municipality has put plans for a data centre on hold after residents raised concerns, DR reported. Mayor Allan S. Andersen announced the pause at a public meeting attended by about 300 people.

The data centre is planned for Ugandavej, where the municipality sold 40,000 square metres of land for the project. Andersen said the municipality had not done enough to address residents’ concerns when the project first came to its attention two years ago.

The construction process is now on hold. The municipality will also wait for the government’s national strategy, which is expected before the end of the year and will cover data centres, the mayor said.

Mads Sydow, who recently bought a house with his partner near the planned site, said the meeting had not eased his concerns. He said he hoped there would be another meeting or more public involvement.

Andersen said the municipality would take residents’ concerns into account as it considers how to oversee the area.
