Police seek public tips after destructive fire at Isosanta sawmill in Pori

The police are seeking public tips in the investigation of a destructive fire that occurred early Thursday morning at the Konepajanranta area in Pori. The Southwestern Finland Police are examining the fire at the culturally and historically significant Isosanta sawmill as an act of severe vandalism.

The fire was reported shortly before 1:30 AM. Authorities are looking for eyewitness accounts and information on individuals or vehicles present in the area at the time of the incident. All pieces of information are deemed valuable to the investigation.

The Satakunta Rescue Department received the alarm for the significant building fire at 1:36 AM, dispatching 15 units to the scene. According to the rescue services, the building was already fully engulfed in flames when the first units arrived, and nothing could be done to save it.

Constructed in 1922, the Isosanta sawmill was a protected structure. In recent years, it has suffered extensive vandalism and had fallen into disrepair.
