Police responded Monday morning to a report that a student might have brought a weapon into a classroom at Sedu’s Rastaantaipale campus in Seinäjoki, Yle reported.

Principal Pasi Artikainen said three or four police cars arrived before 9 a.m. The school had been alerted by another student in the same class and notified the authorities.

The student suspected of having the weapon had already entered the classroom. The school said there had been no threat or threatening phone call, and it was not yet known whether the student had a weapon.

The situation ended quickly, and the student was removed from the school, Artikainen said. The student had apparently been attending a class in general studies, which are common to all students.

The school is reviewing what happened and has made counselling available to students and staff who need it.
