Police recover knife as three are held in Breiðholt homicide probe

Three people, including a man in his thirties and his father, are being held in connection with a homicide investigation in Breiðholt, mbl.is reports. They are due to be questioned on Sunday.

RÚV, citing sources, reported that the younger man is suspected of using a knife against two men after a fight. One died shortly after arriving at intensive care, while the other was seriously injured.

Police collected the knife from an apartment building in Hólar, near the scene, shortly after 2 p.m., according to mbl.is sources. RÚV reported that the father’s suspected involvement and the identity of the third person in custody are not known.

The attack took place at the junction of Hraunberg and Austurberg. Flowers and candles have been left at the scene. A fight was also reported earlier that evening a short distance away, between Hólabrekkuskóli and Fjölbrautaskólinn í Breiðholti.
