Put Halloween pumpkins in food waste or compost, DR says

After Halloween, pumpkins should go in food waste or a garden compost bin, waste company Nomi 4s told DR. The company serves four municipalities in north-west Jutland.

Anne Rørsgaard of Nomi 4s said pumpkins are grown as food and should therefore be placed in the green food-waste bag. Large pumpkins can be cut into smaller pieces and divided among as many bags as needed.

Food waste is turned into biogas, Rørsgaard said. Pumpkins can also be composted in the garden, where they will become compost. She warned against leaving them in nature, saying they attract various things.
