Police cells in the capital region were full and beyond capacity after a busy night involving several serious assaults, mbl.is reported.

One person was held in connection with an investigation into a serious assault in Hafnarfjörður or Garðabær. Three people were held over an investigation into a robbery and serious assault in the city centre, while another was held over an assault investigation in Kópavogur or Breiðholt.

The incidents were among those recorded by the Capital Region Police between 5 p.m. on Saturday and 5 a.m. on Sunday.

A teenage party in the city got out of hand. Two people were reported for disobeying police orders and carrying weapons. One person spat in the face of a paramedic, and a woman kicked a police car. She was taken to a police station and released after questioning.

Police also stopped a driver for several suspected offences, including driving without a licence, causing a traffic accident, property damage and driving under the influence of drugs.

Police station 4, which handles incidents in Grafarvogur, Árbær and Mosfellsbær, is investigating a case of domestic violence.
