Man proposes to partner at Mont Blanc in the Alps

29-year-old Thomas Lone from Hemsedal dreamed of proposing in nature, ideally at the top of a mountain. Mont Blanc, soaring nearly 5,000 meters high, was the perfect choice for this adventurous proposal. Thankfully, his partner, Jannicke Kristine Dahl, responded with a resounding “yes,” turning what could have been a disappointing moment into one of joy amid the Alpine landscape.

Their summer included van trips through the Alps for paragliding and mountain running, creating the ideal backdrop for Thomas’s proposal. Thomas reflects on how they both share a love for nature, acknowledging the challenges of climbing as symbolic of their journey together.

Five years ago, Thomas scaled Mount Everest and subsequently became the youngest Norwegian to complete “The Seven Summits,” the challenge of reaching the highest peak on each continent. This achievement, totaling 45,544 meters, pales in comparison to the high he feels now, soaring through the skies.

During the proposal, Jannicke sensed something was amiss during Thomas’s nervous speech before he surprised her with the question. Although he did not plan to seek out a traditional engagement ring during their trip, he made a ring from climbing rope, leaving the possibilities open for a more conventional ring later.

As for the wedding location, while Mont Blanc hosted the proposal, Galdhøpiggen may be the choice for their nuptials. Thomas humorously mentioned that he would take a backseat in planning the wedding, trusting Jannicke to lead the way.

When asked to compare summiting Everest to proposing, Thomas expressed that life changes, and building a future together brings greater meaning than any mountain peak. Ultimately, love is the highest peak they will climb together.
