Former drug user says injection use is not new in the Faroes

Injection drug use is not a new phenomenon in the Faroe Islands, former drug user Jana Maria McKay told KVF, saying the issue should not come as a surprise to society.

McKay has been drug-free for many years. After watching the programme “Leivur vil liva”, she decided it was important to share her own story.

She said she was grateful for the help she received, but was concerned for people who had not been, or were not, as fortunate. McKay criticised society for not taking the problem seriously. She spoke on the radio programme Breddin.
