Finland’s news agency STT will end its news and photo operations in March 2027, with 89 employees expected to lose their jobs, Yle reports.

STT said a month ago that its board was planning to shut down the loss-making business by the end of March 2027. The company then began change negotiations, which concluded on Wednesday.

The negotiations covered 95 permanent employees. The current estimate is that 89 people’s roles will end. The closure would leave Finland among the few Western countries without its own news agency.

Finnish magazine Suomen Kuvalehti reported the news earlier.
