Glasses placed in a microwave caused smoke and triggered a major fire alarm at a care home for older people in Oulu on Wednesday evening, Yle reported.

Staff evacuated the resident from the room. No other residents needed to leave the building, which houses 43 people.

The North Ostrobothnia Rescue Department was initially alerted to a large building fire after a report of smoke in a resident’s room. Before firefighters arrived, it emerged that the smoke had come from the glasses in the microwave.
