Sev is working on a solution to help large energy users, especially industrial companies, switch to renewable power, KVF reports. One example is Eysturlund, which is planned to generate electricity for Havsbrún.
The 2021 climate policy says solutions are needed to supply electricity to industries that use large amounts of oil. The biggest oil users are feed production and heavy machinery in the construction industry.
Sev says suitable solutions have so far not been possible under the current legal framework. It is now proposing a new sustainable partnership model: a producer would sell renewable energy to Sev, which would then resell it to industrial users seeking to replace oil with renewable energy.
