East Fjords could see gusts of up to 35 m/s tonight

Strong winds are expected in the East Fjords this evening, with gusts reaching up to 35 metres per second in wind channels near mountains, mbl.is reports.

Winds are forecast to pick up from the northwest at around 7 p.m., including in Hamarsfjörður, according to a notice from a meteorologist at the Icelandic Road Administration.

Temperatures are also expected to fall in the Westfjords late tonight, with poor visibility possible in snow on the highest mountain roads.
