Police have identified 45 victims in an investigation into a boy suspected of creating AI-generated nude images of underage girls in Lappeenranta, Yle reports.

The case came to light in late August, and police initially received more than 100 crime reports. Investigators are reviewing images found in the suspect’s possession, said Pia Katajala, a detective chief inspector with the Southeastern Finland Police Department.

Police had identified 37 victims about a month ago. Katajala said the final number could reach 50. She added that rumours about the case had led some people to believe they had been targeted.

Police aim to complete the preliminary investigation by the end of the year.
