When Beinta Løwe was diagnosed with breast cancer, she found little information about the illness in Faroese. She decided to tell her own story in a book, KVF reports.
The book, titled Cancer: When life comes to a halt, follows Løwe from her first mammogram to the news that she was well. She describes it as an honest account that includes both difficult and good moments.
Løwe kept a diary during her illness and used it as the basis for the book. She said she had not expected to write such a book, but felt people could not simply point to a need for information without trying to do something themselves.
Although Løwe is known from Faroese media, she said readers would meet her as a private person in the book, rather than the professional figure they know from her work.
