Icelandair, Malaga, solar eclipse

Icelandair is offering a package trip to Málaga, in southern Spain, for the total solar eclipse on August 2, 2027, and seats are still available, Morgunblaðið reports. The trip includes flights and accommodation through Icelandair Vita, the airline’s travel agency, in partnership with Iceland at Night’s Sævar Helgi Bragason and Gísli Már Árnason.

The eclipse will last six minutes and 23 seconds, making it the longest total solar eclipse for the rest of this century. It will be visible from southern Spain and Egypt. The next eclipse of comparable or greater length is expected in 2114.

Bragason and Árnason will provide information about the eclipse, with solar viewing during the day and stargazing in the evenings before the event. The package costs 294,000 Icelandic krónur per person. Travellers can choose from several departure dates before the eclipse and return dates afterwards, though the number of available seats is falling.
