Faroese musician Terji Brynjarsson is writing songs about friends who died too young, including one inspired by his own past as an addict, KVF reports. The 34-year-old has been sober for two years.
Brynjarsson performed the personal song “The Cemetery King” with his band Eija at Sement last week. He says the figure in the song is misunderstood, unheard and overlooked.
“I want to be a voice for those who never had one,” he said when KVF met him at Reinsarínið a few days after the performance. The song is also about Brynjarsson and his life when he was part of that environment.
