Orpo’s Kyiv jacket echoed Zelensky’s style, expert says

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo wore a jacket resembling Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s familiar style during a visit to Kyiv, Yle reports.

Etiquette expert Helena Valonen said Orpo may have chosen the outfit to show support for Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people, though it could also have been a coincidence.

Orpo wore the jacket while getting off a train on Thursday, before attending any official event. Valonen noted that leaders usually wear classic dark suits for state visits. She added that the jacket appeared to fit Orpo naturally.

Zelenskyy stopped wearing suits at the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Since then, he has usually worn dark sweaters and turtlenecks featuring Ukrainian symbols, saying he wants to honour Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the front line.
