Suðuroy is struggling to recruit permanent family doctors, KVF reports, as the island’s last doctor in a permanent post prepares to take a year’s leave.
Newly qualified doctor Marin í Dali, who lives on the island, is reluctant to apply for any of the permanent positions. Doctors currently working there are also taking leave, while no one is willing to take the permanent posts.
KVF’s current affairs programme Degi og viku featured a report on the issue and an interview with Egil á Bø, director of Heilsutrygd.
