Faroe Islands
The Faroese parliament has approved taking over responsibility for the policy area of intoxicating substances at the start of the new year, KVF reports. No members voted against the measure or abstained.
The policy area is currently a joint responsibility, although it is administered and mainly funded in the Faroe Islands.
When the transfer takes effect, existing rules in the Faroe Islands that do not conflict with the Home Rule Act will remain in force until they are amended or repealed. The powers and obligations of Danish authorities will pass to Faroese authorities.
