The People’s Party has gained three percentage points since the parliamentary election and would win 10 seats if an election were held now, according to a new poll reported by KVF. The Union Party would lose one seat and hold six.

The poll, conducted by Spyr.fo for the news outlet Portal, puts the People’s Party at 29.7 per cent, making it the largest party. All other parties would retain their current number of seats.

Ingi Samuelsen, Portal’s editor, said he was surprised by the result and that opposition parties could not be satisfied. He said it was difficult to explain why the People’s Party was gaining support while the Union Party was losing it.

Five hundred people responded to the poll. A further 12.3 per cent said they did not know which party they would vote for.
