South East Jutland Police will bring its mobile police station to Vejle after two incidents in the area within a day, DR reports. The force says the incidents may have caused local concern.

Police are investigating an explosion in a stairwell on Ved Hammerværket in Grejsdalen, north of Vejle. A separate police operation on Kalkbrænderivej in Vejle ended after more than 12 hours with the arrest of a man who had barricaded himself inside an apartment.

Police say there is no indication the two incidents are connected. The mobile station will be at Nørretorv in Vejle from 10am to noon, where officers will speak with residents who have concerns or information about either incident.

Tina Køhrsen, who lives on Kalkbrænderivej, said she was unable to return home during the operation. She told DR that when she came back from a run, the area around her building was cordoned off and officers were carrying submachine guns.

Køhrsen said residents had difficulty getting information from police, including whether they would be allowed back into their apartments. South East Jutland Police told DR that the cordons were necessary to carry out the arrest as safely and carefully as possible, with the greatest possible protection for residents and others nearby. Police said it can be difficult during an operation to predict how long it will last or how it will develop.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
