Oulu man jailed for attempted manslaughter of restaurant worker

Oulu District Court has sentenced Christian Jami Juhani Pato to three years and four months in prison for attempting to kill a restaurant worker, Yle reported on Wednesday.

The court also ordered Pato, born in 2007, to pay the victim 5,000 euros for suffering and 1,500 euros for temporary harm.

Pato punched the worker and tried several times to stab him with a fruit knife. The victim suffered cuts while trying to defend himself. The violence took place in a passageway leading to Valkea shopping centre in Oulu, following unpaid restaurant bills.

Pato denied attempted manslaughter but admitted assault. The verdict is not final. Kaleva was the first outlet to report the ruling.
