Vordingborg Municipality is expected to approve plans for 24 tiny houses at Stege Bakker on Møn, DR reports. The homes, which will be up to 45 square metres, are designed to include a kitchen, sleeping area and bathroom.

The municipal council is expected to vote in November on a change to the local plan that would allow the houses to be built. The homes will vary in size and are aimed mainly at people who want to live in a smaller home than a traditional detached house.

Ronni Benjamin Lykkehus, chair of the council’s Nature, Technology and Environment Committee, said the project could help attract new residents by offering a type of housing not previously available in the municipality.

Simon Zachodnik, managing director of Nordic Small, the company behind the project, said it also aims to promote more sustainable housing by encouraging people to live in smaller homes.

He said potential residents could include older people moving from large villas, as well as smaller families seeking modern housing without buying a large detached house. Lykkehus hopes the first residents could move in within a year or two.
