Ice reported across capital region and highways

Ice is widespread across Iceland’s capital region, mbl.is reported, after temperatures fell below freezing overnight.

Salt trucks were sent out early to treat city streets, but icy patches remain. Road users are urged to take care, and many drivers may need to scrape their windscreens before setting out.

The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration’s traffic website reports snow cover on many mountain roads in the Westfjords, North Iceland and East Iceland. Icy conditions or patches of ice are also reported on roads across the country.
