Teachers warn of rising violence in Stockholm compulsory schools
The Swedish Teachers’ Union has warned of rising violence in Stockholm’s compulsory schools and called on the city’s education administration to take immediate action, SVT reported.
More than 300 incidents involving threats and violence against teachers were reported in Stockholm in September alone. The union has given the administration two weeks to present an action plan.
Simon Sandström, the union’s chief safety representative, said it had seen many incidents that were particularly serious.
The administration disputes the description of an acute situation and says the increase reflects work done on the reporting system.
