Fróðskaparsetrið, the Faroese university, received 29 million kroner in external research funding last year, a record, KVF reports. The total was 68 per cent higher than in 2024.

Magni Mohr, the university’s vice-rector for research, said the institution had become more professional and that its funding applications were now higher quality and more ambitious.

Funding from abroad has also grown substantially. The year before last, roughly equal amounts came from the Faroe Islands and overseas. Last year, the largest share came from abroad. Mohr said this was both good and necessary.
