People with substance-use problems are often given lower priority in healthcare, and the Faroe Islands are no exception, chief consultant Tormodur Stóra told KVF’s programme Breddin on Tuesday.
In some cases, the medical department at the National Hospital is responsible for detoxification. But the conditions are not satisfactory, said Annika Holm, head of the treatment centre Heilbrigdi.
KVF has previously reported on complex systems faced by people seeking help with addiction, including Leivur, whose struggle to get support was featured in the programme “Leivur vil liva”.
