Wenzel can proceed with its takeover of Komfortbilar’s assets and operations after agreeing to stop selling Volvo cars, KVF reported. The Competition Council approved the takeover on 16 October, with its decision published on Tuesday.

Wenzel must stop selling new and used Volvo cars for three years. It must also end its Volvo workshop agreement within a year, unless the Competition Authority extends the deadline. Until an approved replacement workshop is ready, Wenzel can continue providing Volvo workshop services.

The Competition Authority had initially planned to recommend blocking the takeover, saying it would significantly restrict competition. Wenzel promised on 15 October to leave its Volvo business, prompting the authority to change its conclusion. The company chose to continue selling BMW cars instead.

The takeover has been under review since Wenzel acquired Komfortbilar’s assets in September 2025, before receiving approval. The authority said the deal involved nearly all of Komfortbilar’s operations, including car sales, workshop services and BMW business, rather than only the purchase of individual assets.

In March, the authority said it would refer the case to the prosecution service because the takeover had gone ahead without approval and the required notification had not been submitted on time. Wenzel’s approval is conditional on meeting the requirements concerning Volvo.
