Faroese Health and Energy Affairs Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen says the specialist doctor fund will receive money if funding can be found, KVF reports.

She was responding to Jan Rasmussen, a senior consultant at the National Hospital, who said the fund was crucial to developing specialist services. The proposed budget for next year contains no allocation for it.

The fund has been used to hire specialist doctors for posts that had no prior salary funding. Three doctors are due to complete training next year in diabetes and hormonal diseases, geriatric diseases and heart diseases.
