Food company Fresh Servant Group has opened change negotiations at its factory in Edsevö, Pedersöre, in talks that could lead to up to 50 dismissals. Yle reports that 260 employees are covered by the negotiations.
The talks cover all production, logistics and production planning staff at the factory. They could also result in changes to employment terms.
The company says it aims to reorganise production, logistics and production planning in Pedersöre to improve profitability. Some operations may be transferred to a new unit in Vantaa.
“Our operating environment is changing rapidly, and success requires us to renew ourselves proactively,” said group chief executive Sami Haapasalmi. He said the company wanted to build an effective structure that would strengthen its competitiveness and support long-term development.
The Vantaa unit joined the group when Fresh Servant bought Bama Fresh Cuts’ business on 1 October. The acquisition raised the group’s revenue to about 150 million euros.
Fresh Servant also has factories in Lapua and Seinäjoki and employs just over 700 people in Finland and Sweden.
