Twenty-two people have applied to become director of Vørn, including 21 men and one woman, Kringvarp Føroya reports.

One applicant is a foreigner. Vørn operates the patrol and rescue ships Brimil and Tjaldrið and has an agreement with Atlantic Airways for helicopter services. Both ships are currently laid up.

Herálvur Joensen, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fisheries, said many of the applicants are qualified. A selection committee is expected to be appointed this week, with its recommendation expected in November.
