Two men from Lappeenranta are suspected of multiple sexual offences against minors, Yle reports. The suspected offences took place between 2024 and 2026.
According to the pre-trial investigation, the men offered or sold alcohol and drugs to minors before the suspected offences. Investigators said the complainants were mostly heavily intoxicated at the time.
The investigation also identified victims who were previously unknown to police. Some are suspected of having been victimised repeatedly.
Both suspects were remanded in custody during the investigation on probable cause and remain detained, said lead investigator Pia Katajala. The suspected offences include aggravated rape of a child, aggravated rape, offering compensation for a sexual act involving a young person, aggravated human trafficking and assault.
The case will now proceed to consideration of charges.
