Health Assistants’ Association and the Municipal Employers’ Association, known as KAF, have signed a three-year agreement that the union’s chair says breaks the public-sector pay framework, KVF reported.
The agreement was signed on Friday morning and runs from October 2025 to October 2028. “We have broken the public-sector pay framework,” said Mary Antonsdóttir, chair of the Health Assistants’ Association.
In February, 12 public-sector unions reached an agreement with the Finance Ministry on a shared pay framework, calculated according to a specified method. Neither the Health Assistants’ Association nor KAF was part of that agreement, but it nevertheless became an obstacle in negotiations, Antonsdóttir said.
Per Martin Gregersen, chair of KAF, said one of the main sticking points in the lengthy negotiations was the shared framework agreed by the Finance Ministry and some unions.
