Police seek detention of two men over suspected Kaukajärvi manslaughter
Police are seeking the detention of two men in connection with a suspected manslaughter in Tampere’s Kaukajärvi district, Yle reported.
The suspected killing took place in a private apartment on Riipuksenkatu and came to light early this week, investigator Jani Ortamala said. Police arrested both men earlier this week. They are around 40 years old, and the victim and suspects are all adults. Police believe they knew one another, though the nature of their relationship is not yet clear.
Police will ask the Pirkanmaa District Court to detain the men on Friday. Ortamala said investigators could not yet provide further details about the case.
Both suspects have previous convictions. One is the man who was sentenced in September over a stabbing in Tampere’s Härmälä district earlier this year. The court found him guilty of, among other offences, aggravated assault. The sentence is not final. He was also detained over the summer on suspicion of preparing an aggravated offence against life or health, but police released him in late August. He has also previously been convicted of several assaults and property, fraud and drug offences.
The second suspect has previous convictions including drug and assault offences.
