The Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing is accepting applications for director of the Centre for Security Measures, mbl.is reported. The new institution is due to begin operating on 1 April 2027, when legislation governing the implementation of security measures ordered by courts also takes effect.
The centre will implement security measures and carry out other duties set out in the legislation and related regulations. It will receive court judgments and rulings on security measures from the state prosecutor for implementation and registration.
It will supervise and oversee security supervision facilities operating under its authority, as well as people subject to less restrictive security measures. The centre will also monitor facilities run under agreements with municipalities and private parties, and provide advice and professional support to those delivering services to people subject to security measures. It will also offer relevant stakeholders training on the centre’s work and the people it serves.
The ministry is seeking a strong, forward-looking leader able to guide a diverse staff through the establishment and development of a new institution, build trust and unity, and support the professional and effective implementation of security measures.
Applications are due by 1 November. The minister will appoint a three-person committee to assess applicants’ qualifications. The committee will provide the minister with a written, reasoned assessment.
