Conditions are expected to improve across almost all of Iceland this afternoon after a deep, intense low-pressure system crossed the country on Wednesday and caused disruption, mbl.is reports.
Yellow weather warnings remain in force in Northeast Iceland and in East Iceland east of Glettingur. They are due to expire between 10 and 11 a.m. A northwesterly blizzard is affecting Northeast Iceland, meteorologist Björn Sævar Einarsson of the Icelandic Meteorological Office said. Winds and precipitation are expected to ease this afternoon.
Conditions should be fairly good across the country on Friday. Another low is forecast for Saturday, bringing strong winds and precipitation, though it is not expected to be as severe as Wednesday’s system.
Another weather front is expected to reach the country on Monday evening, with further low-pressure systems forecast after the weekend.
